“Undefeated” Wins 2012 Oscar for Documentary Feature

At the Academy Awards show last night, Undefeated took the 2012 Oscar for best documentary feature. The film (not to be confused with Sarah Palin’s similarly titled documentary) focuses on an underdog football team that looks to reverse their fortunes with Bill Courtney, a lumber salesman who becomes a volunteer football coach.

“Undefeated” is not currently available for the library to purchase because it is not on DVD yet. However, the film is playing at the local True / False Film Fest next weekend, so catch it there if you can. The film also has a local angle, as it was co-directed by MU grad Dan Lindsay. Radio station KBIA put up part one of an interview with Lindsay last week, with part two to follow this Friday.

We have a couple of the 2012 Oscar nominees available in our catalog:

Keep in mind that we’re showing If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front on April 25 as part of Center Aisle Cinema. Ragtag Cinema is also going to be showing the documentary Pina starting March 9. You can also catch Ragtag’s Oscar-Nominated Animated Shorts and Oscar-Nominated Live-Action Shorts this week as well.
