New DVD: The Interrupters

March 5, 2012

We recently added The Interrupters to the DBRL collection. The film played at the 2011 True False Film Fest and currently has a rating of 99% from critics at Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s director, Steve James, is also well known for the documentaries Reel Paradise and Hoop Dreams. Here’s a synopsis from our catalog:

The moving and surprising stories of three Violence Interrupters who, with bravado, humility, and even humor, try to protect their Chicago communities from the violence they once employed. Shot over the course of a year, this documentary captures a period in Chicago when it became a national symbol for the violence in America’s cities.
