New DVD: Sherman’s March

We recently added “Sherman’s March” to the DBRL collection. The film was awarded the Grand Jury prize at the 1987 Sundance Film Festival and the film currently has a rating of 100% from critics at Rotten Tomatoes. Here’s a synopsis from our catalog:

Ross McElwee sets out to make a documentary about the lingering effects of General Sherman’s march of destruction through the South during the Civil War, but is continually sidetracked by women who come and go in his life, his recurring dreams of nuclear holocaust, and Burt Reynolds.

New DVD: When Strangers Click

We recently added When Strangers Click to the DBRL collection. The film was broadcast on HBO in February and is the latest film directed by Robert Kenner, who also directed War Letters and Food, Inc. Here’s a synopsis from our catalog:

Paper Heart showing February 9th

This month’s film is Paper Heart (2009, 88 min.). The film follows filmmaker Charlyne Yi as she embarks on a journey across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn’t fully understand…love. Along the way she meets the boy of her dreams and wonders if she will lose the one thing she never believed in. This film, also starring Michael Cera, Seth Rogan and Demetri Martin, won the Waldo Scott Screenwriting Award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Watch the trailer for the film below:
