New DVD: “Bully”

We recently added “Bully” to the DBRL collection. The film played at the True/False Film Festival in 2012, and currently has a rating of 86% from critics at Rotten Tomatoes. Here’s a synopsis from our catalog:

This is a character-driven documentary following five kids and families over the course of a school year. Offering insight into different facets of America’s bullying crisis, the stories include two families who have lost children to suicide and a mother awaiting the fate of her 14-year-old daughter, who has been incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus. Documentary provides an intimate and often shocking glimpse into homes, classrooms, cafeterias and principals’ offices.

New DVD: Waiting for Superman

We recently added Waiting for Superman to the DBRL collection. The movie was directed by Davis Guggenheim, the director of An Inconvenient Truth and It Might Get Loud. The movie played at Hollywood Theatres last year and has won several awards. Here’s a synopsis from our catalog:

Provided is an engaging and inspiring look at public education in the United States. This documentary has helped launch a movement to achieve a real and lasting change through the compelling stories of five unforgettable students such as Emily, a Silicon Valley eighth-grader who is afraid of being labeled as unfit for college, and Francisco, a Bronx first-grader whose mom will do anything to give him a shot at a better life.
